Punjabi Rang Heer Ranjha De Sang - Punjabi Food Festival at Pearl Continental
Despite the condition and recent tragic events in our country we as a nation always come together as one. Since all Punjabi’s enjoy generous amount of food and generous amounts of happiness … in a nutshell that was what HeerRanjha was all about. It was specially organized to give Pakistan a new and lighter image, that we are not terrorists but we care for our country and adore all its cultures. We love celebrating our culture and there is no better way to cherish it than with food. RecentlyPearl Continental Hotel in Karachi organized “Heer Ranjha Food Festival” to celebrate the Punjabi Culture, it was held inside Marco Polo from 18th – 20th October 2012 and on 21st October for Sunday Brunch.
The Team of Food Connection Pakistan was invited to be a part of this spectacular event. Ms. Anita Sattar Pr. Marketing Head, PC Karachi along with other corporate personnel’s and Punjabi ushers welcomed guests with open arms. The chief guest to this event was Mr. Tahir A. Khan.
Everywhere our eyes could go we could see people wearing Punjabi attire with huge smiles on their faces. Also the event was made more happening with the movie “Heer Ranjha” being played on the big screen which created a strong setting at the background. All handicrafts were decorated in our cultural manner.
Overall the organizers did a splendid job in maintaining the impression of a Punjabi restaurant. As soon as you entered you could smell the aroma of authentic Punjabi food. All food that was served was desi and prepared with all the Punjabi spices and Desi ghee. The dishes included Lahori Chargah, Kata Kaat, Makkai ki roti, Mutton Pulao, Cholay, Sarson ka saag, Fried Lahori Fish and Gol gappay. All dishes were very well organized and served. People who have sweet tooth enjoyed all sorts of mithayee’s along with Gajjar ka halwa and the mouth watering triffle. The drinks were also served according to the Punjabi theme, which included Rooh Afza, Limo Pani and our very own Desi Lassi. Anyone who is a fan of Punjabi cuisine would adored this effort.
All in all it was an amazing effort put together by Pearl Continental’s Management and we hope that they continue to celebrate the culture with food as it not only supports the food industry sink its roots deeper but also helps us as the consumer to relish the food more.
